CTE Programs

Erie 1 BOCES' Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offer students exciting opportunities to explore their passions and career paths, helping them graduate high school with college credits, technical experience, and industry certifications in high-skill, high-demand fields.

11th and 12th graders can participate in one- or two-year CTE programs, while 10th graders can take part in career exploration. Most students earn 3.75 credits per year, with academic credit available, and the hands-on, real-world programs are taught by NYS-certified industry experts. Students also have the chance to engage in SkillsUSA industry-sponsored competitions and internships.

Animal Science

Students gain hands-on experience in animal care and veterinary science, exploring topics like health, nutrition, reproduction, and behavior.

Auto Technician Training

Students will learn to repair modern vehicles, covering engines, tires, alignment, fuel systems, electricals, powertrains, brakes, and suspension.

Aviation Technology

Students will study and apply aerodynamic principles, aircraft control, and instrumentation in the classroom and during flight.

Baking and Pastry Arts

Students will learn baking basics, measurement, mixing methods, and plating techniques to create edible works of art.

Barbering

Students will learn the technical and communication skills required to be successful in a professional barbershop environment. 

Building Trades

Students gain fundamental construction skills, including tool use, safety procedures, blueprint reading, and accurate measurements.

Career Exploration

Students explore career interests through program shadowing and hands-on projects.

Collision Repair

Students will train in collision repair, automotive detailing, painting and restoration work.

Cosmetology

Students will learn the communication and technical skills required to be successful in a professional salon.

Criminal Justice

Students will learn criminal and civil law, traffic law, arrest procedures, report writing, and professional communication.

Culinary Arts

Students will master safety, sanitation, equipment operation, and cooking short order and large meals in this fast-paced program.

Cybersecurity and Networking

Students will learn the latest software to analyze data traffic and troubleshoot PC hardware and operating systems.

Dental Laboratory Technology

Students will explore the art and science of creating corrective devices and replacements for natural teeth.

Early Childhood Education

Students interested in teaching will learn the physical, social/emotional, and intellectual development of children. 

Electrical Systems

Students will learn the theory and fundamentals of electrical systems and apply it to hands-on projects.

Electronics and Applied Technology

Students will use soldering irons, hand tools, meters, and oscilloscopes to build computers, robots, amplifiers, wireless devices, and other high tech projects. 

Emergency Medical and Fire Services

Students will explore the wide variety of career opportunities available in Emergency and Fire Services while practicing hands-on emergency care skills.

Engineering and Robotics

Students will experience hands-on projects and skill based competitions that will prepare them for their future.

ESports Management

Students will explore the growing world of Esports and learn the business components of this booming industry. 

Exercise Science

Students will explore the effects of exercise including cardioconditioning, strength and flexibility training on health, wellness and sports performance.

Fashion Design Technology

Students will learn to dress, style, and create trends based on design elements and the fashion cycle. 

Health Careers

Students will learn the skills to be a supportive caregiver through clinical experiences in a variety of health care environments.

HVAC

Students will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning installation, service, and repair.

Occupational Education

Occupational Education offers supportive career development programs for students with learning or management needs who require small classes and individually modified curricula.

Plumbing

Students will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of plumbing installation, service, and repair.

Social Media Marketing

Students will learn the variety of social media platforms available to businesses, learn how to build a company’s brand, increase sales in e-commerce spaces, and drive website traffic. 

Video Production Recording Arts

Students will learn to create and produce their own original films and music with the guidance of industry professionals.

Virtual Production and Design

Students will experience real world skills and techniques in the fields of graphic design, animation, illustration, and virtual production. 

Web Technologies and Game Programming

Students will bring ideas to life by writing software, designing and coding games, and developing web pages and sites. 

Welding

Students will learn to manipulate metal using a variety of welding techniques and the many different job skills that will set students up for lucrative careers in manufacturing, field work, or entrepreneurship.
