Alden Senior Shines in Early Childhood Education at Harkness

Alden senior Zofija “Zo” Koegl is thriving in the Early Childhood Education program at the Harkness Career and Technical Education Center, where she has emerged as a leader, role model, and passionate future educator.
Instructor Rose Ruh says Zo’s transformation over the past two years has been remarkable.
“Zo is a great young lady,” Ruh said. “This year, I am so proud of the Early Childhood student she has become. She is overcoming adversity both personally and academically, loves children, and is actively involved with foster kids, making a clear difference. She is a superstar.”
Zo credits the program for shaping her future and strengthening her passion for working with children.
“This program has provided me with an advantage by teaching me child development and age-appropriate milestones,” she said. “It taught me patience, especially with children who need the most attention and love, and that kids learn best when they’re having fun.”
Zo plans to attend SUNY Erie to study business management, with the long-term goal of opening her own childcare center, continuing the impact she is already making.
